Here we define the function and characteristics of the object. Clicking anywhere on our empty Mixer Map will create a new object and bring up the Object Definition Box. Pressing the right mouse button reveals the Mixer Map Toolbox, from which the NEW Tool should be selected. You'll need to refer to the documentation for your controller and VST for instructions about setting that sort of thing up. Its now time to create our first MIDI Mixer object. You need to make sure that your MIDI controller is transmitting on the MIDI channel that your VSTi is set up to receive. Now there are some finer points not covered above. Set up the output of the MIDI channel to go to the VSTi that you want to control. Set up the input so that its receiving a MIDI signal from your MIDI interface on the computer. you have some sort of internal VSTi you are trying to control with your MIDI instrument.Ĭreate a new track MIDI track in Cubase. Then you can hear what has been recorded already and record a new one (and monitor it). you have a midi /controller/instrument (keyboard, controller, whatever)ģ. Disable Record Enable and Monitor button on the 1st (already recorded) track and enable both of them on the 2nd (recorded) track. you have a MIDI interface for the computerĢ. I am going to have to make a few assumptions.ġ.
CUBASE MIDI MONITOR HOW TO
but if any one can give me some basics as to how to get started so I can record in midi, it would be greatly appreciated. Why do you know that this is "quite complicated"? How can you possible know if its complicated? You know nothing about it so you have absolutely no way of knowing if it's complicated or easy. It's really only barely different from recording audio. I have looked at the manualĭon't just look at the manual, READ IT! Do NOT even try to say that you have read it and can't figure it out because this is a pretty basic function of Cubase and described in detail in the manual.
